For over a decade, American Idol has built an incredible fan base with millions of viewers deciding each contestant’s fate via phone, text or online voting. Episode to episode contestants change, and American Idol needs the seamless integration when changes arise. Each season, AmericanIdol.com needs to connect to over 10 vendors and Diamond worked to alleviate that impact on all teams, namely the front end.
The concept was to create a new mapping to the vendor without having to change the API to the consuming application.
Diamond created a Fox API, effectively shielding the consumers of data: the web, mobile apps, games and connected devices, from requiring to reintegrate. We created a new mapping to the vendor without having to alter the API to the consuming application.
